WHO WE WANT:
We are seeking a Senior VP who is a proven, dynamic, and inspiring leading fundraiser with superior management and relationship skills; someone who has demonstrated success in leading fundraising teams, building a national fundraising strategy and growing an annual campaign. You’ll be heading up a team of fundraising professionals in developing, managing and cultivating relationships with existing donors, as well as identifying new prospects. An ability to engage with donors and clearly communicate our organization’s mission is key. The successful candidate will lead all aspects of the campaign including research prospective donors, develop relationships through face-to-face solicitations, leading of cultivation and fundraising events, educational projects, as well as stewardship of lay leadership. You’ll be expected to energize team members, persuade prospects and persevere to the end.
YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:
- All fundraising efforts of the organization, reporting directly to the CEO
- Communicate strategy to board of directors
- Attend board meetings
- Preside over operations
- Work with audit committee to prepare budgets
- Analyze financial reports
- Ensure company policies and procedures are followed
- Attract, retain and motivate staff
- Set goals, monitor work, and evaluate results to ensure that organizational objectives and operating requirements are met and are in line with the needs and mission of the organization
- Work alongside community leaders, executive directors, major donors/funders, government officials, and senior staff/board members
- Helping our donors accomplish their philanthropic goals and ambitions through a relationship with our organization
- Leading the annual campaign with the goal of raising over $9million annually
- Managing systems and software to track and cultivate donors and prospects, including our donor database and wealth screening tools
- Managing existing portfolio of donors and prospects
- Creating and implementing moves management plans
- Making direct, face-to-face solicitations, assisting board members and mentoring other staff with their solicitation
- Acknowledging major donors through public and private recognition
- Tracking and reporting progress using specific metrics
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
- 7-10 years of fundraising work experience with at least 3 years at senior levels with demonstrated major gift solicitation results. You make donors feel valued because you’re sensitive to their needs.
- Demonstrated experience in leading teams and managing a successful, comprehensive fund development program and infrastructure, and preparing an annual development work plan and calendar to achieve goals
- Strong collaborative nature and skills as well as the ability to successfully take initiative and work independently as needed.
- Ability to work on a team, be a thought partner and contributor to all fundraising efforts in order to reach goals
Proven success in identifying and securing new six-figure+ foundation and individual grants - Strong history of generating increased funds from individual donors and annual appeals through a coordinated, strategic approach; knowledge of planned giving and experience with online fundraising preferred
- Experience using and measuring best practices in major gift and pipeline development

- Ability to learn the details of an organization’s substantive work and apply that knowledge in drafting successful fundraising solicitations
- Demonstrated success in conducting initial outreach to prospective foundations/donors, arranging for and successfully preparing organizational leadership to meet with prospective donors/foundations
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills
Strategic and nuanced thinking capable of creating innovative ways to effectively engage new donor audiences - Well-honed oral and written communications as well as public presentation skills
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and learn quickly
- You are comfortable using a donor database, prospect research and other wealth screening tools to aid in your moves management process.
- Detail-oriented, organized, enthusiastic and energetic, with great judgment and a sense of humor
- Deep understanding of the North American Jewish philanthropic landscape and demonstrated commitment to advancing Israel and the Jewish community
- A strong work ethic, ability to maintain and model high personal and professional standards, as well as an outgoing and positive personality
