The VP Development will drive the organization’s fundraising through collaborations with philanthropic funders both in Israel and internationally, will work to support the implementation of the full annual work plan, and will be responsible for the execution of the full gamut of tasks necessary to meet the organization’s funding goals.

Desert Stars is seeking to hire a VP Development to lead its resource development effort. The VP Development will be a dynamic and inspiring leader with demonstrated success in building a fundraising strategy, working with board members, and growing philanthropic relationships.
As VP Development, You Get To:
- Plan and implement the department strategy and annual work plan;
- Be responsible for meeting all funding goals, including those related to the capital campaign;
- Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing donors;
- Expand the donor base into new markets;
- Be responsible for PR both in Israel and overseas;
- Oversee all grant applications and all reports to funders and prospective funders – in Hebrew and in English;
- Manage a development team of two;
- Plan and lead all donor visits and missions;
- Plan and lead all overseas donor-related trips;
- Be responsible for all data management as well as gift processing and acknowledgement.
This Job Is For You If You:
- Have at least 5 years prior experience in fundraising, board development, donor cultivation, and grant writing – a MUST;
- Have proven managerial skills and experience;
- Have a real understanding of and familiarity with Arab/Bedouin society in Israel;
- Have a deep understanding of the Jewish philanthropic landscape;
- Have previously fundraised for a comparable organization – an advantage;
- Are financially literate, and are able to build, track and report on budgets;
- Have a deep understanding of marketing and PR;
- Are an English speaker with excellent English presentation and writing skills;
- Are a Hebrew speaker with excellent presentation and writing skills;
- Excellent analytical and creative skills in developing cultivation strategies;
- Self-starter with the confidence and maturity needed to join a driven team;
- Able to meet multiple deadlines and work well under pressure;
- Are computer literate: OFFICE, EXCEL, on-line grant reporting and submission, CRM.
