The Head of Strategic Communications will work with the Division Head to develop integrated, strategic plans, campaigns, tools and resources that drive donor giving and donor retention.

Tel Aviv University’s Division of Development and Public Affairs seeks a collaborative communications leader who will thrive in a fast-paced work environment and has experience in planning and producing compelling marketing and branding material across multiple platforms – print, digital, social media, website, webinars, and video.
The Head of Strategic Communications must be a stellar English-language writer and editor who can craft strong narratives and tailored messaging for internal and external audiences on an international level. They must feel comfortable managing both an in-house team and vendors, and must be passionate about bringing their creativity and professionalism to bear on enhancing the fundraising operation.
As Head of Strategic Communications, You Get To:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive communications strategy to amplify the organization’s mission and impact;
- Assist in conceptualizing and implementing major fundraising campaigns;
- Serve as a thought partner within the senior management team to help problem-solve, strategize, make decisions, and continually innovate fundraising and donor relations;
- Manage a team of 8 as well as external suppliers, such as graphic artists, photographers, writers, programmers, printers, video production companies, etc.;
- Write and edit generic and customized donor proposals in diverse formats, including Word, PPTs, brochures, digital apps, and more;
- Write, edit and produce high-end communications such as top officers’ speeches, President’s Newsletter, Annual Report, letters to the Board, and much more;
- Manage and grow social media presence with high-quality content and visuals that increase reach, engagement and support;
- Oversee the production of 20+ videos a year for the purpose of marketing, positioning, and donor recognition, both in-house and with outside companies, through all stages from conception and storyboard through casting, production, and editing;
- Provide/arrange photographic services for events and delegations, as well as produce photoshoots for brochures, articles, campaigns, ads, etc.;
- Lead internal communications efforts to ensure alignment across teams locally and globally on products, priorities, and branding;
- Collaborate closely with managers in Donor Stewardship, Sales, Operations, and Media Relations.
This Job Is For You If You:
- Have both a marcom and grant-writing background;
- Have a master’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, business or related field;
- Are a native English speaker, with exceptional language and storytelling skills, preferably with an editorial background;
- Are fluent in Hebrew;
- Have a minimum of 10 years in marketing communications;
- Have a minimum of 3 years in grant-writing;
- Have a minimum of 3 years’ formal supervisory experience or proven ability to manage and develop a team;
- Have strong interpersonal communication, collaborative and critical thinking skills;
- Are discrete, diplomatic and sensitive in handling proprietary information;
- Have superb organizational skills, with strong attention to detail;
- Have proven production capabilities, and are able to balance multiple projects, tasks and deadlines;
- Have demonstrated experience developing outstanding content for a variety of products such as, but not limited to, social posts, website articles, newsletters, brochures and speeches;
- Have demonstrated experience both devising and supervising creative media, including video projects, photography, and graphic design;
- Have proven experience applying the latest trends, insights, and best practices in integrated marketing strategies and tool;
- Are able to identify and utilize research that spotlights dynamic trends and shifting demographics among audiences to continually retool communications;
- Understand popular science – an advantage.
