The Israel-based Development Officer will work with the AFOUI Board and the University’s Head of Development (also Israel based) to engage American Jewish philanthropic support for Israel’s largest university.

The American Friends of the Open University is a longstanding 501c3 organization now seeking an Israel-based professional to drive the growth of the University’s fundraising through brand awareness and growing philanthropic relationships throughout the United States.
As the Israel-based Development Officer, You Get To:
- Increase awareness of the Open University throughout the United States;
- Be responsible for all fundraising efforts in the United States;
- Work with the Israel-based team to execute a comprehensive fundraising plan;
- Direct solicitation of philanthropic contributions for all aspects of the university’s work;
- Grow the number of annual US donors to the Open University;
- Manage, research, and track a diverse portfolio of high-capacity supporters, establishing meaningful relationships with donors and prospects, and exposing them to the vital work of the Open University;
- Facilitate major gift opportunities;
- Develop fundraising materials, events, campaigns and initiatives (in collaboration with the Israel-based team);
- Coordinate Board engagement and activities;
- Oversee and coordinate legal and accounting partners to ensure administrative compliance, good governance and transparency;
This Job Is For You If You:
- Have proven experience in major-gift fundraising, board development, donor cultivation, and grant writing;
- Have proven experience soliciting six-figure gifts for Israeli organizations in the US;
- Are a native speaker of English;
- Can fly to the US frequently;
- Are personable, motivated, and a team player;
- Are an experienced writer and speaker;
- Can multi-task and prioritize, and are a quick learner;
- Are a strategic and nuanced thinker capable of creating innovative ways to effectively engage new donor audiences;
- Are detail-oriented, organized, enthusiastic, and energetic;
- Have a deep understanding of the US Jewish philanthropic landscape and demonstrated commitment to advancing Israel;
- Are ethical and able to model high personal and professional standards.
